2025 Lucid Air Touring Review: A Smooth Ride with Impressive Range and Unique Features

Welcome to an in-depth look at the 2025 Lucid Air Touring, brought to you by Electrified Outdoors. If you're curious about this electric vehicle that strikes a balance between luxury, performance, and range, you’re in the right place. The Lucid Air Touring steps up from the Pure model, offering more features and power, yet it doesn't reach the performance heights of the Grand Touring or Sapphire editions. Let’s dive into what makes this EV special, from its sleek exterior to its well-appointed interior and driving dynamics.

Exterior Overview: Sleek, Low, and Practical

This Lucid Air Touring makes a strong first impression with its unique black exterior complemented by aero wheels. It sits very low to the ground, which not only enhances its aerodynamic profile but also gives it a distinctive sporty stance. Despite its low height, the vehicle offers practical storage options including a spacious rear trunk that extends quite far back and includes underfloor storage pockets, a tow hook, and a 12V accessory outlet. The trunk is power-operated, adding a layer of convenience.

Under the hood, the front trunk (or frunk) is relatively shallow (more space is available under the load floor) but sufficient for storing a compact spare tire or additional gear. Notably, it features a large HEPA air filter, ensuring excellent cabin air quality. However, the charge port on this particular vehicle had some issues closing automatically, which is unexpected given the low mileage (around 4,000 miles) on this model.

Interior Comfort and Features: Luxurious and Thoughtful Design

Inside, the Lucid Air Touring continues to impress with high-quality materials—soft-touch surfaces and wood grain accents create an upscale ambiance reminiscent of a luxury Tesla but with a more refined feel. The door handles have a unique to Lucid latch mechanism, and the back doors open almost straight out, facilitating easy access for rear passengers or items.

The rear seats are spacious, offering plenty of legroom even with the front passenger seat pushed all the way back. Rear occupants enjoy heated seats, dedicated air vents, two USB ports, and a center console equipped with cup holders and storage. The back windows come with adjustable shades operated through window controls on the door panels.

The center console in the front features two phone holders with wireless charging, though the drink holders are somewhat small and may not accommodate larger bottles comfortably. Storage is available under a sliding screen, though overall console storage space is moderate.

Infotainment and Controls

The cockpit hosts a primary driver’s display and an additional touchscreen for infotainment and vehicle settings. Unlike some competitors, the Lucid Air Touring supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a significant plus for tech-savvy drivers who prefer smartphone integration.

While the infotainment screen is slightly smaller compared to rivals, it offers extensive customization for seat adjustments, climate control, charging settings, and vehicle preferences. Physical buttons for volume and fan speed ensure ease of use without relying solely on the touchscreen, which some drivers will appreciate.

The steering wheel features controls for cruise control, lane-keeping assist, audio adjustments, and voice commands, with stalks and gear selectors similar to Tesla’s design. Manual vent adjustments add a practical touch, avoiding the sometimes cumbersome touchscreen vent controls found in other vehicles.

Driving Impressions: Smooth, Powerful, and Efficient

The Lucid Air Touring delivers a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 3.4 seconds, which is impressive for what is considered the mid-level Lucid model. The three driving modes—Smooth, Swift, and Sprint—allow drivers to tailor the experience, with Sprint mode unleashing the full power of the vehicle.

Despite being a "slower" Lucid variant (GT 3.0 sec & Sapphire 1.89 sec), the Touring model doesn’t feel slow at all. Its suspension is finely tuned to provide a comfortable yet engaging ride, an engineering feat given the vehicle’s low stance (something that usually results in compromised ride quality). Handling is confident, with the car cornering smoothly and maintaining composure through turns.

One unique aspect of the Lucid is the motor noise. Unlike many EVs, the Lucid’s electric motor and reduction gear are integrated into one assembly, which contributes to a distinctive motor whine. It’s subtle and not intrusive inside the cabin, adding character without distraction.

However, the audio system (base audio system) left something to be desired. Despite streaming high-quality music via Tidal, the sound lacked depth and clarity, especially bass. In comparison, other EVs like the Silverado EV offer a superior audio experience. Still, the inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto means drivers can easily use their preferred audio apps, somewhat making up with function what it lacks in sound quality.

What Could Be Better: Considerations Before Buying

While the Lucid Air Touring excels in many areas, there are a few drawbacks to consider. The low seating position, while sporty, might not be comfortable for everyone, especially those with back or knee issues. Getting in and out of the vehicle can be challenging due to the low ride height and relatively small door openings.

The windows are also smaller than some may prefer, which could make the interior feel a bit claustrophobic for us larger folks. Additionally, the charge port issue seen in this particular vehicle is a concern, especially for a model with such low mileage.  If the charge port fails to open this could result in an inability to charge the vehicle when needed and that's not good.

Price-wise, the Lucid Air Touring is still a premium vehicle, although recent price reductions have made it more accessible than before. It’s not the most affordable EV, but it provides excellent value in terms of range, technology, and driving experience for its price.

Final Thoughts: Who Should Consider the Lucid Air Touring?

The Lucid Air Touring is an excellent choice for drivers seeking a high-performance electric vehicle with an impressive range of over 400 miles, luxurious materials, and modern tech including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s ideal for those who appreciate a smooth, responsive ride and don’t mind the low seating position.

If you prioritize efficiency and range, Lucid’s innovative motor design and battery technology make this one of the most efficient EVs on the market. However, if ease of entry or a higher driving position are top priorities, you might want to explore other options.

Looking ahead, Lucid’s upcoming Gravity SUV promises to expand their lineup, and it will be exciting to see how it compares. For now, the Air Touring offers a compelling blend of style, tech, and performance for EV enthusiasts ready to embrace electric driving with a touch of luxury.
