GM Issues "Important" OTA Update for 2024 Silverado EV Models

GM Issues "Important" OTA Update for 2024 Silverado EV Models

Update N25-251670

This update appeared in our 2024 Silverado EV RST First Edition on October 3rd, 2025 and appears to address some important issues on the 2024 Silverado EV.  Further research indicates this only applies to 2024 model year vehicles.

Here is a summary of fixes/improvements contained in this update.  The update takes about 15 minutes to install on your vehicle.

Summary

• Improvements to battery health diagnostics
• Fixes for efficiency when using fast charging stations
• Improvements to reliability for climate control and charging
• Improvements to the accuracy of efficiency values
• Improvements to shifting
• Fixes to protect battery health and adjust charge limits
• Improvements to diagnostics that impact propulsion, charging, and One-Pedal Driving

NOTES:  The update failed to install several times when we tried to install it.  We were out on a long drive and fast charging so its likely that conditions were not optimal to install the update.  We parked the vehicle, then selected install now.  We left the vehicle and the update was installed successfully when we return and the following message was displayed.

Soon, we will be testing out the vehicle on a road trip to see if this improves the fast charging experience when running the cabin climate control.  On prior road trips, running the cabin AC would cause fast charging to slow very significantly.  Forcing you to either spend more time charging or to leave the vehicle and turn it off.
