GM OTA Updates 661.10, 661.20, and 661.30 Rolling Out for Silverado EV & Sierra EV
Share
GM appears to be rolling out a new batch of over-the-air software updates for the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV. The updates include GM Update 661.10, 661.20, and 661.30, and they touch several important systems including driver assistance, rear camera performance, charging diagnostics, and Super Cruise behavior.
For owners who have been dealing with warning messages, inconsistent driver assistance behavior, or charging-related quirks, these updates look especially worth watching.
What’s Included in the Latest Silverado EV & Sierra EV OTA Updates?
Here’s a breakdown of the three updates currently showing for these trucks.
GM Update 661.10
Applies to: 2024, 2025, and 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV
Component: VICM (Vehicle Integration Control Module)
- Improvements to diagnostics and service messaging for battery health, particularly in humid conditions
- Improvements to transmission diagnostics used for shifting
- Improvements to charging system diagnostics
- Fixes to help protect EV adapter from overheating while charging
This update looks focused on overall vehicle diagnostics and charging-related reliability. The mention of battery health messaging in humid conditions is especially interesting, as it suggests GM may be refining how the truck interprets or reports certain battery-related conditions in the real world.
GM Update 661.20
Applies to: 2024 and 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV
Components: ACP3_MCU and ACP3_SOC
- Improvements to accuracy of Park Assist messaging
- Fixes to improve performance of driver assistance systems and rear view camera
- Improvements to responsiveness of rear view camera
- Fixes to address Super Cruise disengaging erroneously
This is one of the more notable updates in the batch. If you’ve seen Super Cruise unexpectedly disengage, or noticed lag or odd behavior from the rear camera or driver assistance features, 661.20 may be the update that addresses it.
GM Update 661.30
Applies to: 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV
Components: LRR (Long Range Radar), SRR (Short Range Radar), SBZA (Side Blind Zone Alert)
- Improvements to the performance of driver assistance features
- Fixes to help ensure accurate driver display messages and alerts
- Improvements to the performance of Automatic Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control braking
- Fixes to help ensure proper functionality of Forward Collision Alert and availability of driver assistance features
This update appears aimed squarely at ADAS performance and radar-related functions. For 2025 trucks, it could bring meaningful improvements to how the vehicle handles alerts, braking interventions, and feature availability.
Why These Updates Matter
Not every OTA update is a big one, but this group seems more significant than a routine background patch. Across these three updates, GM is addressing several areas owners care about most:
- Super Cruise reliability
- Rear camera responsiveness
- Charging diagnostics and adapter protection
- Battery and service messaging accuracy
That means these updates may improve both day-to-day usability and confidence in some of the truck’s most advanced systems.
Which Silverado EV and Sierra EV Model Years Are Affected?
- 661.10: 2024, 2025, 2026
- 661.20: 2024, 2025
- 661.30: 2025
Not every truck will necessarily receive every update at the same time. GM OTA rollouts often happen in waves, so some owners may see these before others.
Final Thoughts
Based on the release notes, GM Update 661.10, 661.20, and 661.30 look like meaningful improvements for Silverado EV and Sierra EV owners. The biggest highlights are probably the Super Cruise fix, rear camera improvements, and driver assistance and braking refinements, along with charging-related protection updates.
If you’ve already received one of these updates, I’d be curious to hear what changed on your truck. Did you notice improved responsiveness, fewer warnings, or better behavior from Super Cruise or the camera system?
