Rivian Satisfaction Campaign: Sealant for HV Battery Connectors (2022–2024 R1T & R1S)

Rivian Satisfaction Campaign: Sealant for HV Battery Connectors (2022–2024 R1T & R1S)

Rivian has launched a customer satisfaction campaign (bulletin RCA-30-25-001-1) for some 2022–2024 Rivian R1T and R1S vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. The purpose is to address a potential long-term durability concern involving high-voltage (HV) battery connectors.

What Rivian is addressing (and why it matters)

Rivian indicates that some HV battery connectors may be susceptible to corrosion in certain climates over time. If corrosion develops, the vehicle could enter a reduced-performance “safe-state” mode. A fault indicator light may also appear on the driver display, prompting the driver to seek service.

To help prevent corrosion before it becomes a drivability issue, Rivian’s remedy is to apply sealant to the affected connectors.

Which vehicles may be affected

This campaign applies to some model year 2022–2024 R1T and R1S vehicles, with approximate build dates ranging from August 2021 through December 2023.

Because this is VIN-specific, the best way to confirm applicability is to check your Rivian build date usually found on the body of the vehicle visible with the driver door open.  You can also reach out to Rivian service support to confirm applicability.

What you might notice if corrosion has already started

If corrosion occurs, the vehicle may enter a reduced performance safe-state mode and a fault indicator light may illuminate on the driver display advising you to have the vehicle serviced.

What Rivian will do during the service visit

While the service bulletin includes technician-level procedures, the high-level summary is:

  • Rivian technicians access the HV battery connector areas and identify the connectors included in the campaign (the bulletin references six connectors total: two left-front, two right-front, and two rear).
  • Sealant is applied to protect the connectors from environmental exposure.
  • After reassembly, Rivian performs verification steps including an HV battery housing leak test.

⚠️Important safety note

This campaign involves high-voltage components. For safety reasons, this is not a DIY procedure and should only be completed by Rivian-trained service professionals.

What owners should do:

  1. Confirm whether your vehicle is included (Rivian app notifications or Rivian Service with your VIN).
  2. If included, schedule the campaign service.
  3. Stay alert for reduced performance or warning indicators, especially in corrosive or wet climates.

Bottom line

This Rivian customer satisfaction campaign is a preventative measure. By applying sealant to certain HV battery connectors on select 2022–2024 R1T and R1S vehicles, Rivian aims to reduce the likelihood of corrosion-related issues that could lead to reduced performance and unexpected trips to service.
